What size and rating should I get for jewelry alone?
For jewelry you want two things most safes skip: a UL RSC burglary rating (not just “solid steel construction” marketing) and at least a 1-hour fire rating at 1700°F. Jewelry melts faster than people expect — Woodland Hills sits in a high fire-severity zone per the LA City fire map, and we’ve pulled safes out of homes near the 2018 Woolsey burn scar where the contents were destroyed because the safe was rated 30 minutes at 1200°F. Four 3/8″ anchor holes is the whole footprint. On carpet we lift a small section, drill, anchor, and the carpet drops back — invisible. On hardwood we use the existing seam direction so the holes disappear under the safe and don’t show if you ever move it. Built-in closet systems from California Closets or the custom shops on Variel Ave are usually no problem; we measure the safe footprint against your shelving before we touch a drill. If the safe doesn’t fit cleanly, we tell you on the spot rather than force it.
How long does the actual installation take?
Most jewelry safe installs in Woodland Hills take 45 minutes to 90 minutes on site, start to finish. That includes positioning, drilling, anchoring, leveling, testing the lock 20+ times, programming your code, and walking you through the override key procedure.
