About the service

Professional Car Key Replacement in Fresno

Most people don't think about their car key until there's only one left, or none. You're in the River Park lot with groceries melting, or back home off Shaw Avenue realizing the spare you meant to make last summer never happened. Either way, the old advice – tow it to the dealer, wait three days, pay too much – isn't your only option anymore.

We cut and program replacement car keys where your car is parked, anywhere in Fresno. Lost the only key, snapped a blade in the door, need a second key before a road trip up the 41 to the mountains – those are different jobs, and we'll tell you which one you're actually looking at before any work starts. Fresno's summer heat is rough on key fobs too: the batteries and the little transponder chips don't love 105 degrees, so a fob that's been baking on the dash all August is its own kind of call.

What to expect

What Happens When You Call Us in Fresno

It starts on the phone. We ask the year, make, and model, and whether you have any working key at all – that one answer changes everything, because a duplicate is quick and an all-keys-lost job means we have to read the car's immobilizer and build a key from scratch. Knowing it up front means the right blanks and the right programmer are in the van before we leave.

On-site, a basic mechanical cut is often done while you wait. A transponder or push-to-start fob takes longer – we pair it to your car's security system, and some models run 20 to 40 minutes on the programmer. We cover the whole city, from the Tower District and Old Fig Garden out to Sunnyside and the Clovis line on the northeast, so wherever you're stuck, it's usually a short drive for whoever's closest.

Real Questions from Fresno

asked by actual customers · from our dispatch log
$89 to cut and program a key?
The price depends on a few things — one of them is whether we can decode the key from your lock. That isn’t always possible. If it’s simply a matter of duplicating the key, the cost is $89.
I have a blank key I’d like programmed for my 2018 BMW X5. How much, and does that include cutting the key as well as programming it?
Cut and programmed, you’re looking at starting around $350 — that covers both. Every key is a little different, though, so we’d need to see the blank you already have to give you the exact price.
I lost the key to my 2020 BMW 540i and don’t have a spare. Are you able to provide the key as well?
Yes — the key, the cutting and the programming, all done at your car. With no spare it lands on the higher end of the estimate, and you get the exact price before anything starts.
How much would it be for 2 replacement keys for a 2009 Honda Accord?
Keys for that one start around $159 each — and we can usually work out a better deal when you’re doing two at once.
If the tech comes out and tells me it’s way expensive, is there any charge for him coming out if I decline the price?
No charge at all. If the price doesn’t work for you, you’re free to pass — no obligation. You get the exact number on the spot before any work starts.

FAQ

Do I have to tow my car to a Fresno dealership?

Almost never. If we can reach the car – your driveway, a parking lot, the side of the 99 – we cut and program the key there. A tow only comes up for a few models with locked-down security systems, and we'll tell you on the phone if yours is one.

How much cheaper is this than the dealer?

For most cars, meaningfully. Dealers commonly run $250-$400 for a programmed key plus the wait; on-site we're usually well under that because there's no service-bay markup. Exact price depends on your make and whether it's a chip or push-to-start fob.

Can you make a key if I've lost every copy?

Yes – that's an all-keys-lost job. We read the immobilizer data through the car's port, generate a new key, and program it. It takes longer than a duplicate and we may need proof the car is yours, but you don't need an existing key for us to do it.

It's 110 out and my fob just died – battery or something worse?

Often just the battery, which Fresno summers kill fast, and we can swap it on the spot. If a fresh battery doesn't bring it back, the fob's electronics may have cooked, in which case we replace and reprogram it the same visit.
