Will you scratch or damage my door getting in?

That's the whole point of doing it non-destructively. We work the door seam with a padded wedge and reach tools, not a slim-jim jammed down inside the door, so the weatherstripping, paint, and the wiring and sensors packed into modern doors are left alone. On the rare tight-sealed model where a standard reach is risky, we'll tell you before we start.

My kid is locked in the car and it's warm out — what should I do?

Call 911 first. Even on a mild-feeling Santa Barbara afternoon a closed car heats up fast, especially parked in the sun off the Waterfront or downtown. Then call us at (818) 398-9391 and say a child is inside — that moves you to the top of the queue. If we're minutes away we come straight to you, but a kid in a hot car is an emergency and fire crews carry entry tools too.

How do you open a locked car without the key?

Most cars open with an air wedge and a long-reach rod. We ease a small gap at the top corner of the door, slide the tool in, and either press the unlock button or lift the interior handle — no key needed and no drilling. If the keys are locked in the trunk, we usually get in through the cabin and drop the rear seats or hit the release from inside.

What kinds of cars can you open?

Just about anything on the road here — domestic trucks, Japanese and European imports, older blade-key cars and newer push-button fobs. Electric cars and some tight-sealed luxury models need a specific technique, so give us the year and make when you call and the tech brings the right tools for it.
