Keypad, card, or fob – which one fits my Woodland Hills suite?

A keypad is cheapest and fine for a single back door or a small shop where a handful of people share one code. Card or fob readers make sense once you have real turnover or want per-person entry logs – each Warner Center tenant gets their own credential, so you see who came in and when, and you don't reprogram a code every time someone leaves. For a multi-door office floor we usually go fob or card and tie it all to one schedule.

Does the access control tie into the fire alarm?

On a fire-rated door or any maglock, it has to. LA fire code requires maglocks to release automatically when the fire panel trips so people aren't trapped behind a locked egress door. We wire that release in and test it during install. Electric strikes on a standard office door are often fail-secure and don't need panel integration, but we confirm the egress path on every job before we pick the hardware.

Someone lost a card or fob – can you revoke it?

Yes, and on a card or fob system you don't have to rekey anything. We void that one credential in the software and it stops working at every door immediately – the rest of the staff keeps their cards. If your office manager has the admin login we showed you, they can do it themselves in seconds. With a shared keypad code we'd change the code and reissue it, which is why we steer multi-person Woodland Hills offices toward readers.

Do you actually wire it, or just sell the parts?

We wire it. We run the cabling, mount the reader or keypad, connect the electric strike or maglock to power and to the fire panel where the door calls for it, then program the credentials and schedules. For a single office door that's usually one visit; a full Warner Center floor or a stairwell maglock gets a site walk and a quote first so the wiring path and fire release are planned, not improvised.
